The Cumberland County American Red Cross offers several different services and programs in your community. These services are designated to protecting and educating while others allow for you to reach out and assist another member of your community. Here is a quick guide to these various community services and programs.
Lifeline: Family caregivers can obtain information to assist with the care of their loved ones who are residing alone or have a medical condition through a personal emergency response system known as Lifeline.
Vial of Life: This program is designed to speak for you when you are unable to speak for yourself. The information contained within the packet will provide pre-hospital and hospital providers with essential details that will aid in providing appropriate medical treatment.
Animal Assisted Therapy: The Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) Program promotes the interactions of pets and residents with guidance from the volunteer. This is an opportunity to serve your community, and to give your time and talents for a great humanitarian effort.
Youth Programs: Youth programs are educational programs that will teach the children in our communities the basic information on being prepared for disasters, how to give basic first aid and focus on safe behaviour in the water.
Seconds Count Plus: Would you know what to do if you had a fire at your home? Do you know there are things that you can do to avoid starting a fire? Do you know how to use a fire extinguisher? Every Second Does Count when you are trying to escape from a fire and that is why this program was developed for the senior citizens of our community. If you would like someone to come to your group and speak about fire safety for seniors please call Connie Hill or Nikki Otto at 243-5211. If you would like brochures for your family, friends and neighbors on fire safety and prevention please call Nikki. This program was made possible by a grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program from FEMA.
